Gale Harold as Brian Kinney & Randy Harrison as Justin Taylor in a scene that completely destroys me. Okay, I may be exaggerating a little. But it's really sad.

Photoshop CS5+Intuos3 tablet, ~6 hours.

Wonderful work! What scene might this be, then, since it destroys you? and why does it? And why have you chosen that scene to paint if it's destroying you?

Are you familiar with the series? I'm going to assume you aren't, given that most fans would probably recognize this immediately. It's from season 4, episode 8 of Queer as Folk. Both characters have a secret: Brian's is that he has cancer, and Justin's is that he knows about the cancer. It's a quintessential example of their relationship dynamic. Brian holds Justin at arm's length because he's afraid of what will happen if he lets him too close, while Justin subtly sneaks past all of his barriers, often without Brian's awareness until after the fact.

Though they are physically close here, there is a huge, silent wall between them on an emotional level. When I say "destroys" I'm just melodramatically saying it makes me sad. And I love things that make me sad. I'd much rather draw something that depicts brokenness/disconnect/heartbreak than something cheesy & happy (though that can be fun too).

Anyway, hope that answered your questions :) I could write essays on these two, but I tried to keep it relevant.

Wow, thank you :D
I am a member of this group because I am familiar with the series, I've seen it many times, but I didn't recognize this particular lying in bed as the scene you painted. Now that you mention it, it makes sense :D Great job :D

Oh, haha, I had no idea you found this through the group, mostly because I'm not even a member. At any rate, thanks for the feedback :)

Ahh, you're not? Then who submitted it? Then I see of course you couldn't know :) I just thought one had to be a member to submit, but of course, someone else must have suggested it, then :)
